Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast 4 grams
  • 1 teaspoon honey 6 grams
  • 2/3 cups warm water 150 grams
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt 4 grams
  • 1 to 1 2/3 cups All-Purpose Flour 200 grams, plus extra for dusting

Instructions

  • First, combine yeast, honey, and warm water in a large mixing bowl, then let the yeast proof for about 5 minutes. Once foamy, add flour and salt, mixing until the dough starts to come together. Let it rise for an hour or until doubled in size.
  • When the dough has risen, gently shape it into a round loaf on a floured surface, and let it rise for another 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 460°F and place an empty dutch oven (with the lid on) inside.
  • After 30 minutes, carefully place your loaf seam-side up onto a piece of parchment paper and place it into the hot Dutch oven. Cook for 22 minutes before removing the lid and continuing to bake for another 5-10 minutes to deepen the color.
  • Finally, transfer your beautiful, crusty loaf to a cooling rack and let cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing. With just a few simple steps, you’ll have a homemade artisan loaf that’s sure to impress!
