Boasting five spacious rooms, the Outpost Lodge can comfortably accommodate up to 18 guests, making it perfect for larger groups or those seeking a cozy shared space. Enjoy the luxury of a fully-equipped kitchen and a welcoming living room area, with each room featuring its own key code entry for added security. The Outpost Lodge is available for rent as a whole at just $500 per night.
Take advantage of the lodge’s unbeatable location, with a delectable restaurant mere steps away and Berry’s General Store a short .2-mile stroll down the road. Immerse yourself in the breathtaking views of the Dead River, just across the street from the Outpost Lodge.
The Outpost Lodge is an ideal year-round retreat, offering convenience and proximity to food and fuel, making it a snowmobiler’s paradise! Access the snowmobile trail directly from the lodge, ensuring endless winter fun.
Please note that a two-night minimum stay is required for all Outpost Lodge reservations, with some peak weekends and holidays necessitating a three-night minimum.

From May to October, rafting, tubing, and other exciting activities depart and return to the base/outfitter store adjacent to the Outpost Lodge, making it the perfect lodging choice for families participating in activities with Northeast Rafting.

Please note that wetsuits are available for rent at an additional cost and may be required on certain whitewater rafting trips depending on the time of year.
We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early to check in, ensure waivers are signed, and to gather everything you need for an action-packed day on the water! At our on-site retail store, you can find a wide array of merchandise, including water shoes, towels, Aqua Cases, stylish river shirts, and much more.
Rest assured that every raft on a Northeast Rafting whitewater trip is expertly guided by a Registered Maine Whitewater Guide. Depending on your group and raft size, additional guests may join your exhilarating journey.
Northeast Rafting is pleased to provide transportation to and from our base and the Kennebec River put-in for your convenience. Please note that there is a $7.48 road access fee for the Kennebec River and a State of Maine head fee, which will be added to your total at checkout.

For those seeking added excitement, we offer inflatable kayaks for rent on Kennebec River trips. There is a limit of 2 inflatable kayaks per raft of 8 guests.

Kennebec River High Water Rafting
Are you ready to elevate your adrenaline levels and conquer the exhilarating Kennebec River High Water Release? If you’ve already experienced the thrill of rafting the Kennebec at its regular flow, it’s time to take on the next big challenge – the Kennebec High Water Release! These pulse-pounding turbine test days only occur four times each summer, so plan ahead and secure your spot for the ultimate adventure.
Starting from the same point, you’ll instantly notice the water’s increased speed and the heart-pounding anticipation building within you. As you swiftly cruise downstream towards the rapids, prepare for the waves to grow even larger and more intense than before. Keep an eye out for the first photographer, positioned next to the towering 20-foot-tall Big Mama! Conquer this beast, and feel the adrenaline coursing through your veins as you power through the colossal compression waves in The Alleyway.
Regroup in the picturesque Cathedral section of the river, then brace yourself for the unforgettable Magic Falls. This time, you’ll tackle a new route through Magic, navigating the right side of the river. Just over the horizon line, behold the awe-inspiring Maytag – the most colossal crashing wave on the river! Break through the other side of Maytag and cruise through the final rapids of the upper section before embarking on the serene lower river float out.

Dead River Rafting
Get ready for an epic adventure on the Dead River – a thrilling step up from the Kennebec River and Maine’s longest stretch of continuous whitewater at an incredible 16 miles! Plan ahead, as there are only a limited number of releases on the Dead River each year, making this an exclusive and exhilarating experience you don’t want to miss.
Embark on your journey in a remote section of the Maine woods, where you may hear the thunderous roar of the river crashing 35 feet over the majestic Grand Falls. As you navigate downstream, witness the rapids intensify, with little to no breaks between them. Ensure you stay close to your fellow boats and keep a watchful eye on each other! The wide river offers very few eddies to pull over into, but when you do, brace yourself for a big rapid just around the corner.
The first of these thrilling challenges is known as Hayden’s Landing, where the day’s first photographer will capture all the action – from paddling prowess to white-knuckle gripping! Continue down the Dead River, encountering awe-inspiring waves and powerful hydraulics that will test your skills and determination.
Although this epic journey may feel endless, given its status as the longest rafting trip we offer and the relentless fun you’ll have, the end is indeed in sight when you pull over to prepare for Poplar Rapid. But be warned – Poplar is the biggest rapid you’ll face on this adventure! Conquer this final challenge and soon you’ll find yourself drifting into town, where you’ll disembark directly across the street from our base. No bus ride back, just a quick walk to a well-deserved lunch!
